About
Wokingham Aikido Club
|
General
-
We welcome anyone who
respects the ethos of our club and the traditions of Aikido to train with
us. Our style is Aikikai, but we welcome people with training in other
styles. We aim to practise a soft style of Aikido while maintaining a
martial spirit. Our classes are suitable for anyone over 16. There is no maximum age.
We do not have a children's class.

Club History
-
We are a small and friendly Aikido club that has been running since February 2002, originally under the instruction of Sensei Rebecca Saville, 3rd Dan.
-
Our first classes were at St
Sebastian’s Memorial Hall near Wokingham, and we continue to run
Tuesday classes
there. Friday classes started on an occasional basis, often with guest
instructors.
-
Friday classes
moved to St Crispin’s Leisure centre in Wokingham in April 2005.
Since then we have enjoyed classes given by many different instructors
from a variety of Aikido organisations. Every instructor has
their individual style of Aikido and their personal style of teaching, a
variety that enriches our understanding of Aikido. We appreciate the
guest instructors who come to share their Aikido with us.
-
Ivor took over as instructor in July 2006 as a result of Rebecca moving overseas.
We thank Rebecca (and family) for the time and effort dedicated to the club over the years.
The club would definitely not have developed so strongly without her and we hope to train with her again in the future.
